THE NIMROD’S PROBABLE MOVEMENTS. (Peess Association.] CTHsIMSTiCHUItOH, Jan. 21. Mr. J. J. Kinsey, official representative in Christchurch 'for the Nimrod expedition, inforjntd a “Press;’ representative to-day that the ship was expected'hack from the* Antarctic regions at the end ol March or the (beginning of April. On being questioned as to what was. to 'be the vessel’s port of edl in New Zealand, he readied that Lyttelton being the headquarters of the expedition would be the official destination of the ship in New Zealand,--although she might on account of stress or weitlier or damage to gear put in at the first port she could make ‘when approaching New Zealrnd. It is understood that the N. mrod before coming up to Lyttelton will touch at some port in the extreme south of the island, probably i-t Half-moon Bay, Stewart Island, or the Bluff, fo. the purpose of cabling to the “Daily Mail,” London, the official -and exclusive account of the adventures 'and work of the expedition in the Far South.
[Though the “Daily Mail” is to have the “official and exclusive” account of the Nimrod’is ‘work, £IOOO of public money was paid towards the expenses of the expedition by the New Zealand Government, while the Commonwealth of Australia made a larger grant, £SOOO, towards the same object.]
