CO-SPERATIVE WORKERS.
GSR-lEV-AN-CIES AH’ DOMETT. [Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 4. The co-operative workers on the railway extension works at Domett have written at some length, to the Hon. R. 'McKenzie on the subject of the delay an the payment of their wages. The letter alleges that they started work on October 6th, and that they have only received two pays between that date and the present. They cannot understand by -whlat method of calculation the Minister arrives at the conclusion that monthly pays arc being adhered to. They ask for compensation for the suspension of contracts between December 24th and January stli, alleging that they wore willing to work, but / were not allowed to do so. The letter is signed by 55 men. On Tuesday some of the men applied for an advance of pay, but were refused, and in consequence Mr. Campbell, s president of the mens union, sent the following telegram to Sir |Joseph- Ward: “Co-operative workers Domett have not received any wages for seven weeks; Please, •Sir, would you dole us out a few sunlings each and keep us behoving.
