Dr. Wi Repa is at present confined to his room through ill-health. The Rev. L. Dawson Thomas leaves Gisborne this morning for Auckland and Sydney, whence ho will proceed on a visit to Sydney. *-• The Rev. E. Qvenden Perry, who / has for many years labored as an itinerant minister under the Auckland Presbytery, is at present paying a iirst visit to the southern portion of his large parish. He visits as many of the settlers in'tlic baekblocks as possible, holding services here and there where possible. He started up the Coast on Thursday morning, ana 1 intends to go as far as Awanui lieforo returning. A brief but pleasant function was held last evening, when Air. W. J. Cox, head of the firm of W. J. Cox \ and Co., was met by liis employees and presented by them with a solid F silver tea service and tray (specially imported by the employees) on the occasion of his approaching marriage. The health of Mr. Cox and his future wife was heartily drunk, and after the recipient had made suitable response, the function terminated with the singing of “For He’s a Jolly. Good Fellow.” Air. Cox will be married in Auckland next 'Wednesday.
