A WOMAN MURDERED.
BLACK TRACKERS ARRESTED
Particulars in connection with the murder of Mrs Evitts at Jundah. Queensland, show that she went to look for stock in a small ipaddock ad c joining the house, and failed to return at .sundown. Her 'brother went in search, but failed to find any traces. The poliefc and- a search pa rty then went out, and it was soon apparent that there had been foul play. Cor bloodstains were found on the rucks, while dry gidyeu sticks, also bloodstained, were picked tup. A tracker, was .put on, and a bare-ioot-cd person was tracked down to the river, where indications were, seen as if something had been .pushed down the hank. The tracks returned through the paddock. At this stage the tracker kept 'losing the tiacks, but they were picked up by others. A return was then made to the hank of the river. ' , Constable Conway and -a tracker were just ready to go into the v atci when .Mrs Evitts’ body floated to the surface. It was brought to land, am presented a. most ghastly appearance, tho head being battered, and the features being beyond recognition. Cue sleeve o v f her blouse was gone, and the clothing was all torn. That night (Sergeant Proctor arrested a tracker on suspicion ot the murder, and on going over the. tracks a train his vest was found on the road between Prairie Farm and the police paddock. The vest was bloodstained. In the trackers’ hut at the police station a shirt was found also with bloodstains on it. The tracker then confessed liis guilt. He is now on trial.
