HOTEL EMPLOYEES’ WAGES
A DUNEDIN ARRANGEAIENT.
[Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Feb. 6. An agreement has been arrived at between the Otago‘Licensed Victuallers’ Association and the Hotel, Restaurant, and Boarding-house Employees’ Union, ajjd will be made an award M the Court of Arbitration. In a kitchen where five hands are employed, the chef is to receive £4 10s per week, the second £2 15s, the third £1 7s 6d, and others £1 os. -Where four hands are employed, the chef is to receive £3 15s, the second £2 ss, d.lvors £1 ss; where three hands ace employed, chef £3 ss. second £1 17sU, others £1 ss; where two hands gro -employed, chef £2 ss, second : 10. "Where only one hand is employed; a male is to receive £2 and female £1 17s 6d. Where four .or more waiters are employed tlve head waiter i.s to receive £2 10, tiie second waiter £1 15. and others.£l 10; where three are employed, the head waiter is to receive £2 10, the second £1 15, and third £1 Jos; where two are employed, the head waiter is to receive £2 and Ihe second £1 10 ; where one is employed he receives £1 10. Where three' or more waitresses are employed, the he-ul waitress to receive £1 15. and others £1; where two are employed, the head waitress to receive £1 2s 6d, and second £1; where one is employed the award is £l. For pantry, males,, where more than one is employed, the first hand to receive £1 10, and the others £1 ss; a single hand to receive £1 ss; females all to be paid £l. Dav porters to receive £1 -ss, and night porters £1 7s 6cl. Barmen to receive not less than £2, and barmaids not less than £1 ss; probationers for six months 16s 6d: housemaids and waitresses and waitresses combined 17s 6d ; laundresses £1 7s 6d. A provision is made for probationers and for board and lodgings, at 10s for board and 5s for lodgings if not provided by the employer. Hours ot work not to e xceed 65 per week, arranged to-suit business. Overtime rates arc fixed. In addition to the statutory half-holiday a half-holidav is to be allowed every fourth Sunday. Preference is! to given to members of the Union.- The award will come into force on Alarch ], and endures for one- -Year.
