GISBORNE CLUB
The .green of tlio Gisborne Bowling Club .played very “keen” on Saturday afternoon, and a number of members enjoyed some interesting games thereon. The results of the principal games wore as follows : Boulton, Birss, Wilson, Bright (skip) 21, heat Johnstone, O’Meara, Pavitt, F. A. Martin (skip) 20. Wootton, W. Pettie, Simson (skip) 19, beat Paltridge, Hookey, Witty (skip) 16, TURANGANUICLUB. There was a good muster, of players on the Turanganui green on Saturday afternoon, the rinks playing keenly. Chief interest centred in a ■match in the Colts’ Singles and a match for the Bennett Cup. The results of the match games are as follows : —• BENNETT CUP. J. J. Martin (22) beat J. P. Williams (20). —On the 6th head Martin was 11 to nil, but thence to the 12th head ho failed to score, while WO Hams put up 14. On the. 15th head, Williams had a-'lead of one, but on the 19th head matters wero even — 19 all. Martin obtained 3 on the 20th head, and won the game, as his opponent only drew one on the final 'head. - COLTS’ SINGLES. J. Somervell (22) beat W. Hay (15). —The players -were 10 all on the 12th head, while on the 15th head Somervell had obtained a lead of one. Thenceforth Hay only secured one, while Somervell got eight, the final head reading—Somervell 22, Hay 14. The latter received a handicap of one, and was thus defeated by seven points.
