GISBORNE ROWING CLUB
The general committee of the Gisborne Rowing Club has decided to draw the crews for the Morse. Fours at 5 p.m. to-day. It is anticipated that about a dozen crews will enter for the competition. The following were appointed a sub-committee to select the crews to represent the club in the" annual contest with the Poverty Bay Club for the Licensed Victuallers’ Shield :—Messrs. C. Hamilton, L. Williams, W. Johnston, and G. Pullett. WELLINGTON REG ATTA. [Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 7.
Great interest was taken in the annual regatta of the Wellington Rowing Association, held in Wellington Harbor, yesterday. The weather conditions were perfect, a very light southerly cooling the temperature wit limit in any way interfering with the oarsmen. The results are as follows:
Maiden Fours, 1 mile.—-Star 8.C., 1; Canterbury R*C., 2; Union R.C., 3. Also started: Pet-one R.C‘. <Wellington R.C.. Wanganui R.C., and Blenheim R.C. The winning crow was J. B. Davis (stroke),, M. A. Turner (3), C. PL Lawrence (2), and A. E. Lambert (bow). Junior Clinker Fours, 1J miles.— Union R.C. (Christchurch), 1; Picton 8.C., 2; Star B.C. (No. 1 crew), 3. Also started : Star B.C. (No. 2 crew), Lyttelton R.C., Nelson R.C., and Wanganui R.C. Senior Double Sculls, 1J miles.— Union R.C.—J. Fry (stroke), E. O’Brien (bow), 1; Wellington R.C.— 11. A. McKinley (stroke), W. J. Gaudin (bow), 2. Also started: Canterbury R.C. and Star R.C. Senior Fours, 2 miles.—Union R.C. (Christchurch), T ; Union R.C. (Wanganui), 2; Canterbury R.C., 3; Blenheim R.C'., 4. Senior Sculls.—C. H. Marshall (Wanganui), 1 ; N. A. Christiansen (Wanganui) 2; A. T. Bendall (Star, Wellington), 3.. •Junior Fours.—-Picton R.C.. 1; Lyttelton R.C., 2; Star 11. C., 3. The winning crew were D. D. Bridge, J. Bennett, H. Lawson, and E. Wilkinson . Maiden Pairs.—Star R.C., 1; Union (Christchurch), 2; Wellington R.C., 3. The winning crew were M. M. Turner and O. H. Lawrence. Senior Pairs.—Canterbury R.C., 1 ; Union R.C. (Christchurch), 2; Wellington 11. C., 3. The winning crew were N. S. Hobbs and 11. R. Brittan.
