BOWLING.

GISBORNE CLUB

The green of the Gisborne Bowling Club was. in very good playing order yesterday, and there was a large muster of members of the club. A keenlycontested match in the. champion cup competition was played between Eure and Kyme. The latter scored well in the earlier part of the game, making six points' to his opponent’s two in the first half-dozen heads. Eure then improved his position, and on the 11th head the score was even —9 all. It practically remained so, 'and was 15 all on the 20th head. Eure gained three on the final head, thus winning by IS to 15. Excellent play was shown by both competitors. Practice fours were played as follows :.m . Kyme, Cussen, E. Lewis, Eure (skip) 24, beat R. G. Crawford, Malcolm, Paltridge, T. Crawford (slap) 18. Bullock, Morgan, Hookey, Witty (skip) 20, beat Townson, H. Miller, Mclntosh, Robertson (skip) 12. Redstone, Wilson, T. Clarkson, Ponsford (skip) 20, beat H. Lewis, Pavitt, Williams, Little (skip) 13.

TURANGANUI CLUB

Notwithstanding the strong counter attraction of the races there was a good muster of members of the Turaiiganui Bowling Club oil their green vesterday afternoon, and some interesting play resulted. The green was very keen and the members present had a very pleasant time. .The game in which interest principally centred was a game in the Bennett Cup competition, in which Hallam beat Ratcliffe by the substantial majority of ten points. That margin, however, did not represent the difference between the’ play of the competitors, for Ratcliffe played well, but luck was against him. Hallam had the good fortune to score two consecutive fours, on the third and fourth heads and thus obtained an advantage which Ins opponent was never able to overcome. All the heads sent up were good ones, but Hallam had the advantage on the majority of.-them and won by 2o points to 13.
