LONDON, Feb. 16. The “Times” Dacca correspondent states that the new Act has converted the societies in Eastern Bengal named the National Volunteers into .secret societies, with ramifications far and wide. The Dacca branch includes several thousand Brahmins and liigh-caste Hindus, but no Mohammedans. The societies arc modelled on the Russian plan, having three circles, the inner, the really active, and an agent in every village. At present the societies only commit occasional acts of dacoity (gang robbery) to obtain funds, but are in close touch with the anarchist organisation in Calcutta.
