THURSDAY COMPETITION. The only game played yesterday on the Domain was that between United and To Rau, and it ended m a very hollow victory for the latter team. United batted first and were all out for 56 runs. Te Ran then went in and scored 96. and in United’s second venture with the bat they fared even worse being all dismissed for the inglorious total of 35. Te Ran thus von the match by an innings and 3 runs. The winners were strongly represented, while United had only eight men. NEW ZEALAND CRICKET COUNCIL. (Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 18. The New Zealand Cricket .Council decided to-night—“ That the secretary be requested to communicate direct with the South African. Cricket authorities and ascertain the terms upon which the team which is to visit Australia would extend their tour to New Zealand.” It was further decided that the Management Committee should consider the rules'governing the Plunket Shield matches, with a view to alteration, if advisable; the committee to acquaint the Associations with the proposed alterations. It was resolved—“ That the Management Committee consider tlie best method of dealing with the net prcreeds of tlie Plunket Shield matches. The mover suggested that the gam money, after expenses had been deducted, should be l divided, one-third each to the competing Associations, and one-third to the Council ; hut this was objected to, and the opinion rvas ex--pressd that 5 per cent, of the. proceeds, a after deducting expenses, would lie sufficient- for the Council.
