BOWLING.
GISBORNE CLUB. Tli<v members of the Gisborne Bowling Club mustered in good force on their green yesterday afternoon, and some very interesting play was indulged in. Tile green was a trifle heavy after the recent rains, but nevertheless the players present had a very enjoyable time. The game in which most interest .was displayed was the semi-final in the handicap fours, for the Vice-President’s prize. The players and result in this were as follows: Kyme, Morgan, Mackintosh (sub), and Corson (skip) 6 (26) beat Paltridge, Barry .(sub), W. R. Clarkson, Simson (skip) scr. (17). The difference between the play of the two teams was not so marked as the final score would seem to indicate. In the early stages of the game scoring was fairly even, and on the Bth head Simson’s total was 6 and Corson’s (including his handicap) 12. Simson then scored on six consecutive heads, putting up two threes and four singles, raising his total to 16. Luck then turned, and during the remaining seven heads he only scored once — a single, while Corson put in two consecutive fives, on the 18th and 19th heads, on both of which the position was very difficult for Simson. On the 19th head the score stood: Corson 24. Simson 17. The former put in a single on each of the two succeeding heads, finishing with a total of 26. His rink will play off in the final against that skipped by Robertson.
The results of the other games played were as follows : Seymour, J. Lucas, Williams, Robertson (skip) 20, beat Redstone, H. Miller, F. Harris, Witty (skip) 17.

The .green of the Turanganui Club was in fairly good playing order, despite the recent rains, and there was a very good muster of members thereon. Afternoon tea, which was nicely served and highly appreciated, was provided by MescTames Hallam and Leydon. Two match games were played, one in the Bennett Cup competition and one in the Colts’ Singles. In the former J. J. Martin-beat Somervell by 19 to 14.
