[To the Editor.]
Sir, —I am' informed that there is a possibility of a compromise being made between the No-license League and the Licensed Victuallers’ Association in the appointment of representatives for the Licensing Bench. Kindly allow me to inform the said parties, together with the Borough Council, that the East Coast Trades and Labor Council, at a-meeting held on the 13th inst., passed the following resolution —“That with a view of obtaining a clean administration and impartial action on the Licensing Bench, this Council endeavors to select a candidate for the Licensing Bench election, independent of party feelings, who shall deal with each ease on its merits.” This Council, roughly speaking, lias a power of at least one 'thousand votes, therefore should command some recognition by, the respective parties.—l am, etc., J.' H. HALL, Secretary East Coast Trades and Labor Council.
