TLIE DISMISSAL OF MISS HARRISON.
[Press Association.]
CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 19
A rather interesting question lias arisen in connection, with the dismissal of Miss Harrison from the position of schoolmistress at To Oranga Home, .Miss Harrison appealed to the Teachers’ Institute to support her in her protest, and at the last meeting of the committee the letter was consider ed. It was pointed out, however, that the Education Act only made provision for . the Institute taking stops to forward an appeal where tinappellant was a teacher employed Iran Ed neat’cm Board. As Miss Harrison is not employed by any Board but by the Department: it was thoughthat- the Institute could not do anything in connection with the appeal It was decided to forward the corrcrpondence to the Executive in Welling ton, with.a view of getting a legs opinion on the question raised. Whet her the Institute would in any ca:x support Miss Harrison in her appeal is still an open question.
