FREEZING WORKS AT OPOTIKI.

AN ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING

Mr. C. Hel’.ier Evans has received information that a most enthusiastic meeting was held at Opotiki on Thursday to consider the starting of a freezing works in that district. Representative settlers were present from all parts of the district. The Auckland Freezing Company sent a representative to ascertain what support would be likely to be given to a frezirig works at Opotiki-, arid it w a ; understood that in the event of 10,000 sheep annually being forthcoming tin company would be prepared to erectworks. A list was made up in the room, from which it was estimated that 23,000 sheep and 250 head o! cattle would be .avilable annually. That being so, it is considered that a start.will be made immediately.
