AN EXPECTED DEFICIT. • THE PRESIDENT-ELECT OPTIMISTIC. United Press Association, Copyright (Received Feb. 21, 4.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Feb. 20. Mr. Taft, referring to an expected deficit of one hundred million dollars, said that many business undertakings were only awaiting the revision of the tariff to be pushed ahead. He believed that the normal increase resulting from the settlement of the tariff would be -sufficient to meet the deficit.
