TOLOGA BAY STOCK SALE
The Tologa Bay monthly stock sale was held on Saturday last. Tin yarding consisted of about 50 head of cattlo and 2000 sheep. The prices realised were as follows:—Shorn lambs brought from 5s 4d to 6s 3d. -100 2 and 3-tooth ewes (small) 9s Cd, 400 2 and 4-tooth wethers 9s 6d. There was no demand for old ewes, and no buyers of cattle. Messrs Faulkner and Bruce officiated as auctioneers. The latter gentleman represented Messrs Williams and Kettle for the first time. The auctioneer:-; drw •attention to the matter of advertising stock in time, and impressed upon their hearers the value of advertising in order to draw outside buyers.

WELLINGTON, Fob. 22. Following is the High Commissioner’s market cablegram, dated 20tli inst:—
_ The mutton market is very dull. Trade for all classes ol mutton has been very slow, and prices barely maintained. The tendency of the market seems to be to decline. Current quotations are : Canterbury 3U North Island 3rd, River Plate 2fd, Australian 2fd. The lamb market is very weak. Thro is a dull sale for all brands. Competition amongst holders of lamb to clear their stocks has lowered values.. Canterbury lamb is quoted at •jjkl, other than Canterbury sgd. The beef market is steady, and there is a better demand. Hindquarters are quoted at 3]d, forequartres at 2|d. The butter market is slightly weaker, with less demand. Current quotations are: Choicest New Zealand 107 s, Danish 116 s, Australian 104 s, Argentine 106 s, Siberian 102 s. The cheese market is quiet, but firm. White makes are quoted at 60s, and colored at -635.
The hemp market is weak and inactive. Current quotations are: Spot, good and fair grade £24 10s, fair grade £22 10s; fair current Manila £23 10s; forward shipments,good fair grade £25, fair grade £22; failcurrent Manila £22 10s. Last week’s Manila output amounted to 2-1,000 bales.
The cocksfoot seed market is dull. Buyers are not keen to do business. The wool market is stronger, especially for coarse crossbred. All .grades of Bradford tops are quoted as follows : 36’s (low crossbreds) 4 o :s (low crossbreds) Is Old, 44’s (medium crossbreds) Is lid, 50’s (half-brods) 144 d, sG’s (quarter-breds) Is 7d, 60’s (merinos) Is llid. The hop market is very quiet. The prospects are unfavorable. CUBhSTCHURC'H WOOL SALES. GHRISTCHU.ROH, Feb. 22.
