The (principal item of interest in North Island racing at the present time is the Wanganui Cup, which is just two weeks ahead. Until after the acceptances some doubt must exist as to the intention of owners, but tho horses most talked about at this stage are All Red, Bobrikoff, Downfall, Blue Ribbon, Apa and Muskerry, while Gold Crest, Gold Thread, Armlet and Crucinclla are the candidates that enter most into the discussions over the Flying Handicap. A well-known Australian authority considers that Waririki’s full brother Sedtlon, who up to the present has been a costly horse to his owner, may do something this autumn to make up for his defeats in the past. Master Delaval is spoken of as a sure starter in tlie Wanganui Cup, and Auckland sportsmen look to him to perform creditably. The St. Simon horse, Collar (siro of tlie Messrs Stead’s Ringdove), was second on the winning sires’ liist in Russia for the season just concluded, and first on the winning sires’ list in Roumania.
