CHARGE OF CONTEMPT.
THE AUCKLAND CASE

-AUCKLAND, Feb. 23. 'Mr. VV. E. Hackett, solicitor, who was lined £o by Mr. TV. Dyoi, S.M., on February 9th for contempt of Court (in declining to sit down in Court when requested by the Magistrate to do so) mas arrested by the police this afternoon for not having paid the fine. Mr. Hackett was taken to Mt. Eden gaol, where he was examined for any . distinguishing marks, and had his weight. and height taken, besides being required to deliver up the contents of Ins pockets. At this stage a telephone message was received stating that the Auckland Law Institute would pay the fine. The fine was paid, and Mr. -Hackett was released. It is understood that the Auckland branch of the Law Society is investigating the matter.
