CRICKET,

Y.AI.C.A. v. COAIBINED TEAAI. The newly-formed Y.AI.C.A. team made their debut in- local cricket at Victoria. Domain yesterday afternoon, when they met a combined eleven composed of players from the Te Rau, United, AVahderers, and Taruheru clubs. won the toss, and decided to bat on the concrete wicket. The innings realised a total of 87. W. Gibson (captain) and C. R. Webster being responsible for 62 of the total. The latter is a recent arrival from Ale.lbourne, and is particularly strong in on-side play. Olsen was the-most successful bowler for the combined team. He only bonded one over at the end of the innings, and secured the phenomenal figures of-three wickets for no runs, just missing the “hat trick” by one ball. The combined team did well with the bat against the weak attack of their opponents, running up the fine total of 234. Olsen., Aloore, H. AVack, Mill, and Commons each secured over 30, but had to thank the leniency of the fieldsmen for several drooped catches. Jones was the most successful bowler for Y.AI.C.A. He bowls a slow medium, with a distinct swerve, from, leg, and keeps his deliveries well up to the bat. AA 7 ebster and Hutton also did good work with—the ball. The new team have several young players who should develop into capable players, but they are scarcely strong enough yet to appear .in senior cricket. The following are the scores
