There was a large attendance, ami the course was in splendid order. The weather was threatening on the morning of the first day of the Victoria Racing Club’s autumn meeting, hut by the time the first race was run bright sunshine prevailed. The .track was heavy owing to the rain through the week. The finish of the Newmarket Handicap was most exciting. Soultline on weighing in looked fit enough to have continued the struggle.
