TURANGANUI CLUB. V -At the Turanganui Club yesterday afternoon three games in the Bennett Cup singles were played, the results being: BENNETT CUP. , < A. Zachariah 18 beat A. Sawyer 14. —On the 3rd head Zachariah led by 5 to nil, ia-nd on the 11th head by 10 to 5. Sawyer made matters more even on reaching the 16th head, he then being 12 to Zachariah’s 13. The latter, however, was not to be denied, winning at the finish by 18 to 14. B. Hird 17 beat A. Zachariah 14. On the 4th head the scores were 3 all, but on the 16th head being reached Hird had secured a commanding lead — l7_9. On the remaining five heads Hird failed to score, while his opponent put up five singles, the latter thus suffering defeat by three points. J. J. Martin 16 beat A. .Zachariah 11.—Martin scored three on the first head, and then foiled to score for seven beads, on which Zachariah put in six singles and a two, the score thus being in the latter’s favor by 8 to 3 on Hie Bth head. Martin then commenced scoring, securing 13 while his opponent only scored 3 on the }emaining heads, Zachariah. thus being defeated by. 5 points. Entries for the points game have been extended to Thursday next, when the competition will be got oil.
