THE TURF. PENDIL WINS AUSTRALIAN CUP United Press Association. Copyright (Received March 3, 9 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March 3. There was a large attendance at the third day of the Victorian Racing Club’s autumn meeting. The weather was oppressive. The following are the results of the racing: Autumn Hurdle Race, of 300sovs. Three miles.— -Alert Dream 1, Amiga 2, The Ribble 3. Won by kalf-a-leugth. Time, smin 47£eec. Ascot Vale Stakes. Six furlongs.— Sunny South 1, Mala 2, Barm 3. Won by one and three-quarter lengths. Time, lmin 15§sec. Australian Cup, of 1250sovs. Two and a-quarter miles: Pendil. 7.11 ' 1 Delenda, 6.7 2 Signor, 9.4 ... 3 Flavel, Somnambulist, Pendil, and lived Garments were first into the straight. Delenda forged ahead on the outside, and the field closed up, Riverside, Untie Lad, and Elavel leading' together by a length. Pendil i improved his position at the bridge, and ran into second place. Dyed Garments and Nuslika each put in a. fast run rounding the turn. Then a most exciting race commenced. Pendil, .in the centre of the field, led, Delenda challenging on the outside. Pendil, well ridden, got home by lialf-a-length from Delenda, who was two lengths in front of Signor. Five Crown was fourth. Time, 4min o]sec. March Steeplechase, of 2oosovs. About two miles. —Ivororoit 1, Player 2, Wolseley 3. _ Won in a canter by six lengths. Time, 4min lOJsec. Bourke Handicap, of SOOsovs. Sev. en furlongs.—Maltline 1, True Scot 2, Monodist 3. Won easily by four lengths. Time, lmin 263 sec. Junior Handicap, of 250sovs. Six furlongs.—Sperry 1, Apple Pie 2, Patronatus 3. Won bp a length and ahalf. Time, lmin lo^scc. TOLOGA BAY WEIGHTS. The following weights in connection with the Tologa Bay Jockey Club’s race meeting have been declared by the handieapper (Mr. C. J. TE ARAI RACING CLUB. The initial race meeting of the Te Arai Racing Club is to take place today. The first race is to start at 1 p.m. Messrs Redstone and Son’s drags will leave Gisborne for the course at 11.30 a.m. A dance will be •held in the Te Arai School in the evening.
