The intenprovincial cricket match, Otago v. Southland, began to-day in beautiful weather. The wicket was very tricky and puzzled the batsmen, poor scoring being the result. Southland, batting first, were all out for 94; Glasgow 33 and ITuntly 17 being the only double-figure scorers. For Otago Wordsworth took six wickets for 24. Otago made an even poorer showing, being disposed_ of for 57; Henderson 10 and Blamires 10 being the only double figures. Huntly took five Otago wickets for 13. When stumps were drawn Southland in ‘the second innings had lost 'eight wickets for 77 runs. The biggest scorer was Hamilton, 32. He was thrown out after he had the howling collared, and was apparently on the way for a big score.
