THE TURF.

TE ARAI RACES. The recently-formed To Arai Racing Club held their first meeting at To Arai yesterday. A programme of seven events were submitted, and in all the races there were good fields, eleven horses facing the starter in the Ladies’ Bracelet, the best field of the day. The racing was well managed. The course is well suited for the purpose, the straight being nearly lour furlongs in length, and, while the appointments were only of a temporary nature, the officials did their best to make the large crowd present comfortable. Mr. J. E. Daulton, secretary, was untiring in his attention to all details. -Ur. .R. Preston acted as starter, and his work was without fault, while Mr. T. Baker officiated as judge. The following were the results:— MAIDEN SCURRY, of 5 sovs, four furlongs-.—Watson 1, Moss Rose 2, Coekie 3. Won easily by two .lengths. - FLYING HANDICAP, of 8 sows, six furlongs.—Bill 12.0 1, Ciugalee (late The Stripper) 2, Jack 3. Ten horses started. A good race; won bv two lengths. MANUTUKE STAKES! of 6 soys, seven furlongs.—Hinetahi 10.0 1, Coekie 2. Hikapulii started and ran second,- but could not' draw weight.
