POVERTY BAY CLUB

Owing to the Supreme Court sittings tlie races' for the President’s Fours did not take place last evening. To-night J. Webb meets B. Lowe in tho semi-final, and the final will take place on Saturday. A meeting of ladies in connection with the monster social to take place in the Garrison Hall on Easter Monday, was held at the Cosmopolitan Club, last evening. A strong committee was formed, and the social promises to be a great success. The proceeds will he devoted to the erection of a new club-house, and it is hoped that, the public of Gisborne will encourage the excellent pastime of rowing by responding in a liberal manner. The prizes won during the year will also be presented the.same evening. After this social it is the intention of the club to hold weekly dances.
