BRICKLAYERS FOR QUEENSLAND.
A WORD OF WARNING. ' [Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March 5. The Sydney boat to-day took several bricklayers for Brisbane, who are going in search for work. Bricklayers are also leaving the Dominion for contractors’ associations, Mr, W. /y A. Grenfell, secretary of the New ■■ Zealand Federated Builders and Con->*»' tractors' Association, to-day received word from Brisbane that competent bricklayers can secure in Queensland a run of six months’" work at 32s a day of eight hours, and paid weekly. In a conversation with a reporter, Mr. Grenfell said he had been inundated with letters from bricklayers in all parts of the Dominion asking for the above particulars, and the writers expressed themselves anxious to try .Queensland. Although it is clear that some bricklayers are wanted, Mr. Grenfell desired to sound a note of warning To those who contemplate seeking work in Brisbane. He lias no information to give as to what number of men. the Queensland builders require. He therefore considers it inadvisable for a large number of men to go until word has been received regarding the extent of the work offering.
