To the Ladies of Gisborne DEAR MADAM, — 'lhe object of this announcement is to tell you of the arrival of new goods, avd to mention one or two other things, that toill not only interest you, but will be oj material service in helping you to dress well. ‘ - - : - ’ • Our first shipment, which includes novelties and regular merchandise for every department, is now being unpacked, These goods come to us direct from the World’s principal manufacturers and represent the lest values obtainable in correct styles for Autumn and Winter wear, having been selected with special care by our London buyers. ' This is a progressive age, and a progressive business must have a courteous and, well trained sale 8 force. To this end we have secured the services of three ladies, each of whom are specialists. . _ Miss Smith who made herself so popular with the Christchurch ladies, by reason of her ability, judgment, and refined taste, while being the principal lady in the Mantle and Costume department of W. Strange and Co., now takes charge of our Mantle and Costume Department. * , ' ~ . Miss Banks, who is in control of our Millinery room, ts without doubt the cleverest artist that Gisborne has ever had. Her six years experience in an important position in the Modi/ room of such a high class house as Farmer and Co., of Pitt Street, Sydney, puls the stamp of excellence on'hcr work, but when ice tell yoii that for the past three and a-half years Miss Banks has had charge of the Millinery room of Hordern Bros., Pitt Street, Sydney, we feel we have said enough. We quote the following extract from keen business friends regarding Miss Bank's ability, “We duly received your letter of Bth inst., in reference to Miss Banks. It took us some little time to obtain full inforrnaiion about the lady, as we had to go about it quietly so as not to in any way endanger her position with her present employers One of the responsible men in the same Jinn informed us, that Miss Banks was in charge of their Model Workroom; was a very good practical designer, and gave entire satisfaction in every way. From what ive have heard ice have no hesitation in sai/ng you will be very fortunate indeed, if you seeure her services.” Miss Barnes, who took charge of the Sales part of our Mitt-.very six months ago, has become so favouraoly known for her skill in suggesting suitable styles, and-her fine business caqahhties, that it seems superfluous to mention her name, suffice it to say that .Miss Barnes, Miss Smith, and Miss Banks will be glad to place their knowledge and advice at your service, any time you can make it convenient to call. In conclusion, let us say, we are strenuously striving \to attain the ideal Store service, and as in the past, so in the future our efforts will be fixed upon the fullest demonstration of this policy. With our sincere thanks for past favors. 1 We remain, Yours Faithfully, WILLIAM PETTIS & CO., LTD. T. F. TONFYCLIFFE.
