LICENSING COMMITTEE ELECTIONS.

GISBORNE DISTRICT

The triennial elections for members of Licensing Committees were held yesterday in various electorates in the Dofnion. In the Gisborne electorate the proceedings were very quiet, not much interest being taken in the election, the polling very small. Air. H. E. Hill, Return'ng Officer, had all arrangements ing/le to receive the returns from the -Amrims booths, and shortly after nine >’clock the results were known. Lissant ... 498 / McConnell, Thomas ... 463 Primrose, George Watson 363 Sirnson, lan Simson ... 248 Riach, F. AY. (withdrawn) 80 Informal votes ... 67 The return from Alangaone Yalley has yet to come to hand, but the result cannot be affected. The elected members of the Gisborne Licensing Committee therefore are: J. Somervell 1197 votes G. E. Barton 1194 ~ \ , Al. AlcLeod 1047 ~ A. Dewing 1018 D. Hepburn 1015 ~ Alessrs Somervell, Darton. and Hepbum were members of the retiring committee.
