The Port Darwin mail brings details of the .-terrible conflagration among the flower boats on Pearl River, near Canton. Nearly-all the boats were consumed, causing the loss of a thousand dives. The majority Avere drowned. The fire occurred on a Saturday night. Many parties Avere being given by mandarins. The Avildest panic prevailed. Hundreds of people seemed to he jumping into the Avater to save themselves from the fire, and many Avere saved, but over 200 charred corpses Avere discovered up to Sunday afternoon. It is apparent that the boats were heavily laden Avith humanity. It is said that many mandarins are amongst those burned. Ten bankers and a number of prominent business men are among the victims. The fire is supposed to hav r e originated through a falling kerosene lamp.
