ATHLETICS.
AAIATEUR CHAAIPIONSHIPS. (Prec-s Association.) WELLINGTON, Alarch 15. A. E. Burge, whose inclusion in the Wj.'llington team to compete in the Now Zealand .Amateur Athletic championships at- Dunedin next- Saturday was in doubt, ran a mile to-night in the presence of the selectors, in 4mia 42sec, and will accordingly be a member of the team. E. Williams, of Wanganui, will also be running in the quarter and half-mile races. This brings the Wellington team up to nine.
CIVIL SERVICE SPORTS ASSOCIATION.
The committee of the Poverty Bay Civil (Service Sports Association met last evening. Alessrs Carr and Alaekintosh were appointed marshals for the 220yds race on St. Patrick’s Day. It was decided to hold a meeting of members interested in harrier ism during nevt week to discuss the question of holding harrier runs.
In the matter of holding an inter-club hockey match with the Napier Civil Service Hockey Club, it was decided to get the names of all those who would Le willing and able to- go. Members are requested to notify the secretary of their willingness, or otherwise, to travel to Napier, so that definite arrangements may be made.
