HOCKEY.
ASSOCIATION MEETING. A largely-attended meeting of the Poverty Bay Hockey Association was held last evening, the President (Mr. G. K. Pasley). presiding. The following correspondence was dealt with: From the Poverty Bay Cricket Association requesting the Association to see that members refrained from using the Domain.—lt "was decided to write to the Cricket Association asking for permission to be granted, the Hockey Association being under the impression they could use the ground. From the Poverty Bay Rugby Union stating that the Cricket Association had written complaining of the hockey players practising on the Domain. For the benefit of the Hockey Association it was y.:d the Cricks Association were in possession till April 15. To this it was decided to reply, forwarding the letter received from the Cricket Association, and the reply to be sent, also asking permission for use of the ground. From the Gisborne Ladies’ Club, forwaiding £1 Is, and requesting to be affiliated during the coming season. — Affiliation confirmed.
From the Kia Kaha Club requesting permission to change the club colors from white to all black, with white facings.—Request acceded to. From the City Hockey Club sinv'ng they had decided to alter : heir colors to green; also nominating Messrs Grin--1 inton and J. Doyle delegates to the Association.
From the Y.M.C.A. and Civil Service Sports Clubs applying for affiliation with the Association. —Some, discussion took place as to the amount of affiliation fee for the season. Owing to theAssociation being likely to have to meet’ increased expenditure t-liis season, the fee was raised from 30s to £2 2s;!a<lies’ clubs to remain as last year, £1 Is. It was decided to reply to these clubs notifying them of the increase in fees.
From the “Gisborne Times” Company, stating they were going to publish a hockey guide during the coming season., They pointed out that they had decided to print the guide on a mere elaborate scale, increasing the size to eight pages, and publishing all teams and fixtures, with results of games, and other interesting information. The Association was requested to recognise this as the official publication of the Association. .
Tlie manner in which the guide was appreciated last season was spoken of by several memebers, and on the President’s recommendation it was decided to write thanking the “Times” Company for the guide, stating that it would be regarded as the- official programme of the Association!.
A sub-committee consisting, of the president, secretary, and Mr. Mackintosh was appointed to draw up rules to be printed for the Association. - The resignation of the secretary (Mr. C. M. Sargkson), handed in at last meeting,' was accepted. Mr. Sargiseon’s services for "the Association were highly spoken of by the President and others, and a vote of appreciation passed.
Mr. J. Doyle was elected lion, secretary for the coining season.
The request of the City Club tor the use of the Domain ground on Thursday, 2oth, for a match with the Civil Service Hockey Club, was granted, - provided that the use of the ground was granted to the Association. The procuring of a new ground was discussed, and several grounds were mentioned, but it was decided to hold the matter over for Messrs Pasley and J. ,T. Martin to -report on. The meeting, concluded witu a 'vote of thanks to the chairman.
