THE SOUTHLAND DISQUALIFICATIONS. WELLINGTON, March 17. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night, correspondence was received from the Southland Rugby Union urging that the disqualification of the players who took part in the Northern Union game in that district be removed. The men concerned had only played the Northern Union game as an exercise, not with a view to monetary gain. It apeared there had been some misunderstanding in the matter, the Southland Union not having been notified in time that a person playing under the Northern Unon rules would be suspended. However, the committee decided it had no power to reinstate the offenders.
