BRICKLAYERS IN QUEENSLAND

A UNION STATEMENT

(Press Association.)

IVELLINGTON, March 17,

The latest contribution towards the controversy regarding the scarcity or otherwise of bricklayers in Queensland is a letter received by the Trades and Labor Council here from the Brisbane Bricklayers’ Union. This states that there is some work there at present, but there are bricklayers out of work. The members of the Brisbane Union are determined to get all bricklayers to join their union. This is one of the employers’ reasons for trying to Hood the ■market preparatory to making an attempt to get the wages reduced from 12s to lie per clay. The Union warns bricklayers to keep away from Brisbane.
