ACTION OF FARMERS’ UNION

(Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 17. Regarding . the proposed scheme- of immigration of a central body for London, the North Canterbury Executive of the Farmers’ Union has decided to urge the Government to allow the organisation mentioned to forward immigrants to the Dominion under its system of selection. The Executive also decided to write to the. Premier assuring him that there is plenty of room for agricultural workers in the Dominion, and to ask him to recognise the immigration scheme referred to. A LABOR COUNCIL’S VIEW. AUCKLAND, March 17. The Trades and JUabor Council tonight passed a resolution urging the Government to give no further inducement to immigrants until the surplus labor in the Dominion is absorbed; also not to give assisted passages to domestic servants.
