AN INFANTS’ DEATH
AN INQUEST OPENED. • (Frees Association.) AUCKLAND, March 18. At the inquest on the-body of the newly-born infant son of William Stirling. wharf labourer, Annie Cozens, nurse, ,a student of St. Holen’s "Hospital, stated she wars present at the birth at 2 a.m. yesterday.- The child was : iiealihy and fully developed, and it was' all right when she* left at 3 a,m. On her returning at 7.the child was dead. The body was warm -amongst the bedclothes, but the face was cold.. .Immediately after the birth of Ih‘e'child she noticed marks of apparent bruising -on the right arm and -chest. The inquest was adjourned.
