Barton, S.M., leaves iorTologa Bay to-morrow morning. Amongst the passengers for the south, per the Waikare, last evening,, were Mr. and Mre. E. Clump, who intend to loin the Athenic at- Wellington, and leave that port on Thursday for England. It is also their intention to tour some parts of the Continent, and to return to New Zealand in about nine months’ time, Mr. and Mrs. Chrisp came to Gisborne about 29 years ago, and entered in to t-iie business now known as that ei E. Chrisp and Son, music warehouse and agent for the Singer Machine Company. Mr. James Chrisp, the junior partner, will be in charge of the. business henceforth, Sir Cyril Ward, sen of the Prime Minister. who is to take up an appointment With the J. G. Ward Company, will reside in Invercargill. A marriage is arranged between thcMarquis Douro, eldest son of the Duke and Duchess of Wellington, and Miss Maud Coats, of Forest of Glen Tana, Aboyne, Aberdeenshire. Lord Dcuro was born in 1876, educated at Eton and. Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and was for a short- time in the Grenadier Guards, from which he retired in 1903. He served in- the Transvaal War, and was Aide-de-Camp to the Earl of Ranfurly when Governor of New Zealand. The bride’s father is a director of Messrs J. and P. Coats, the well-known thread of. Paisley.
