MR. »W. MILLER S CANDIDATURE.

A largely-attended and enthusiastic meeting of Mr. W. Miller’s committee was held in the committee rooms, -Lowe Street, last evening. Mr. A. F. Kennedy was elected chairman, and presided over ihe meeting. Mr. Ben. Hird was appointed vice-chairman, and Mr. J. F. Sheridan lion, secretary. • Important work was done, and thirty six gentlemen present were appointed to act- as an executive committee. Mr. Miller gave a brief outline of his proposed municipal platform, and ex- , pressed himself as strongly of opinion that- drainage should receive prompt- .... attention, and favored the adoption of , the valuable suggestion of Dr. Mason that the schemes should be submitted ■ j to a committee of independent experts. He thought that a small loan for thepermanent formation of arterial roads could be raised with advantage, and ~-j prior-to Mr. Lysnar’s accession to the . - Mayoral chair bad supported such a ; proposition in the Council.
