Wool. —There is remarkable animation amongst Yorkshire buyers. For good merino prices are hardening. The - tendency of crossbreds is very -firm at the highest late rates. To date 139,463, kales have been offered, and 134.969 scld, including Tawapaita 7fd, Opu B’d, Awbea Bgd, Titi 10Jd, W.D. llfd. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLEGRAM. (Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 22. The following cablegram has been received from the High Commissioner, dated London, March 20: The mutton market is overstocked, and depressed. There is little chance of any advance for some lime. The stock is accumulating. Current quotations aie: Canterbury mutton 3gd, North Island 2§d, River Plate 2|d. The lamb market is weak. There is a dull sale. Canterbury lamb is qtoted at sd, other than Canterbury lfd. Tbe beef market is quiet-. Hindquar-

iers are quoted at 3§d, and forequarters at 2ld. The blitter market is quiet, but steady. Current quotations are : Choice New Zealand 106, Australian 102 s, Danish 115 s, Argentine 105 s. The cheese market is firm, with a hardening tendency, and sigr.s of improvement in price. Cheese, white, is** quoted at 60s, and colored at 645. The hemp market is dull. There is no immediate change expected. Large shipments are arriving from Manila, the last week's output being 32,000 bales. Current quotations are: On spot, good fair grade. £23: fair grade, £2l; fair current Manila, £23; AprilJune shipments, good fair grade. £22 10s; fair grade. £ 21-fair current Manila, £2l 10s. The cocksfoot seed market is firm. Buyers have been offering more freely. Bright, clean. 17ib seed is quoted at 80s:

The hop market is very quiet, with nothing doing. The wool market is firm, with a good demand for all descriptions, and there has been a half-penny advance during the week.
