DEPARTURE OF THE AUSTRALIAN ELEVEN. United Press Association—Copyright. AIELBOURNE, Alarcli 24. The Australian eleven has departed. They were given a great send-off., UNITED-WANDERERS DISPUTE. A special general meeting of the Alanagement Committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held last evening at tile British Empire Hotel to consider, the - appeal of the United Club against the recent decision of the Association to award a threepoint win to the Wanderers Club in the match against United, which was not played owing to the deadlock which arose over the appointment of umpires. Air. W.-Fi Cederwall, president, occupied the chair. Alter a lengthy discussion, Air. Hallamore moved that the match between the two teams he played on a date to be fixed by the Alanagement Committee. Such a course, the speaker declared, would be in the best interests of sport, and definitely decide which club was entitled to the championship.
Air. Gibson seconded the motion, which, on being put to the meeting, was defeated by six votes to four. The question of an appeal to the New Zealand Cricket Council was brought up, when_it was pointed out that according to the laws of the Association, there could be no appeal from the decisions of the Alanagement Committee. Mr. Gibson gave notive of motion to move at a special general meeting of the Association that night fortnight that rule 37 be amended to permit of appeals being-made to the New Zealand Cricket Council.
