MEAN ELL AND GUNN COMPANY. His Majesty's Theatre ' will be reopened by Messrs Meynell and Gunn c Dramatic" Company on Wednesday pvening next, their opening production being the new Australian mining drama, “A Miner’s Trust.” It is described as a thrilling and sensational play, which proved very successful when produced in Sydney. Two young Englishmen, who strikingly resemble each other, are prospecting together in the Reel Hills of Victoria. The compact is made, and Allan Trengrovo sails for England as Jack Howard. What happens to him while impersonating his dead comrade makes an exciting story. In the second act there is a shipwreck scene, the people on a steamer, which is lying on the rocks, being brought ashore by means of the rocket apparatus. The mechanical and scenic . effects are spoken of as being very clever. On Thursday the company present “Two Little Sailor Boys,” on Friday “The Little Breadwinner,” and on Saturdav, the last night of the season, “The Stepmother.” The box plan will be opened at Mr. Miller’s at 10 this morning.

“A TRIP TO CHINATOWN.” Mr. Howard Vernon, with Miss Vi ilia- de Loitte, and their musical comedy company, arrived in town from Wairoa, via Morere, yesterday afternoon, too late to make arrangements for the entertainment which they were advertised to give in Erskine’s Hall. The company will give a performance in Gisborne at a future date, of which due notice will be given. Bv an advertisement in this i£«ue, Mr. Vernon and Miss de Loitte offer an apology for the non-appearance of the company last night.
