The shorthand writers to tlie Timber Commission are Messrs J. Stevenson (“Hansard”), Le Grove, and Gough. Lieutenant-Colonel W. G. -■ Shakespeare (of Loudon) is at present visiting Rotorua. The. local railway staff is going to undergo several changes shortly. Mr. J. M. Brenann, clerk, has been transferred to Invercargill, Air. Currie, of that office, coming to Gisborne. Mr. W. Wakefield, engine-driver, is under transfer, to Wellington, but his successor’s name has not yet been received. Constable Law, for tfie last ten years in charge of the Coromandel district, and who previous to that was stationed at Gisborne, has received intimation that he is to be transferred to Devonport, Auckland. Air. J. Cargill, manager of the Union Co.’s Napier branch, arrived by tho Marama on Saturday morning on a visit of inspection. He returned last night. Mr. W. A. Boucher, Government Poinologist, arrived in Gisborne on Saturday, and left for Napier yesterday.'
