SKULL FRACTURED BY BOTTLE.

AUCKLAND, Mar. 29. A Swiss named Benjamin Mores lied at tlie Hospital on Sunday as tlie result of injuries alleged to be due to an assault upon him. It is stated that a number of men were committing a disturbance in a boarding-house kept by his wife. When lie interfered a bottle was thrown at him, causing a severe wound on his head. Mores worked next week, but his condition grew serious, and subsequently it Tvas ascertained that the skull was fractured . THE INQUEST. AUCKLAND, March 29. An inquiry was opened to-day into the singular circumstances which preceded the death of Benjamin Mores. Mary Casseroni Mores, the deceased’s widow, stated that her husband was a native of Switzerland. She last saw him alive in the hospital on Saturday. She described a brawl which took place in her boarding-house a fortnight ago, when deceased was hit on the head with a. bottle by one of the men in the house. The inquiry was adjourned for a week to enable the police to make further inquiries.
