His Majesty's Theatre was again iVEv ve'l filled on Thursday irght. on H-e nrccisicn of the second performance of Maske'ync and Devant's Mystery Company. Mr. Owen Clark, who opens the proceedings, is an expert conjurer, and he does extraordinary things with such commonplace accessories as handkerchiefs, guinea pigs, doves, and playing cards, while, the “patter which interpreted his sleight-of-liand tricks is full of humor. Mr. Barclay Gammon entertains the audience by song and story, with occasional recourse to a p : ano, upon which he plays notes ot music illustrating in a startlingly accurate way the narrative he is relating. The second part of the programme consists for the. most part of the comical sketch, “Will the Witch and the Watchman.” An old watch-house on the village green is represented by the famous cabinet which has figured many thousands of times in various parts oi the world as the central feature oi Maskelyno and Cook’s phenomenal illusions' There is also a skilful exhibition of tub-spinning, balancing, ami juggling by the Japanese Gmtaro, who is responsible for some wonderful feats. There will be a matinee performance to-day at 2.30 p.m. in addition to the show*'at 8 up.m. A Into train leaves town for Te Ivaraka to-night at the close of the performance.
