PREFERENCE TO BRITAIN

NEW YORK, April 10
The United .States House of Representatives has passed tho Payne Tariff Bill by 217 to IGI. The Bill includes a clause relating to preference to Britain and her colonies, and omits the paragraph providing for retaliation for the British Patents Act. Petroleum, tea, and coffee are placed on the free list.
