CORRESPONDENCE.

[ Correspondence on public matters is welcomed at all times, but it must be distinctly understood that this journal is in no way associated with the opinions of its correspondents.] THE MAYORALTY. [To The Editor.] So “Lysnnrite” thinks the people should give the present Mayor another chance with a new Council. In the first place I should like to ask why this particular individual iis entitled to such consideration. What guarantee have we that lie would work any better with a new Council f As a matter of fact all the chances arc against his doing so. He has never yet succeeded in getting a body of men to work with him on any organisation, and I doubt if he ever will. Wherever he has been there has been nothing but endless talk and discord. Of course the fault is not Mr. Lysnar’s, how could it be? The others are always wrong and he is always right. They are always unprogressive and lie is always progressive. Why, even the judge of a Supreme Court is dubbed by Mr. Ly.snar to be absolutely in the wrong should he venture to say things unfavorable to our Mayor. Surely, sir, it is extraordinary and terribly wrong that all these public men, these judges, and worse still, these villanous newspapers should have conspired to opposed the “progressive” measures of this remarkable genius. But, joking apart, sir, don’t you think we have had nearlv enough of this eternal squealing by such men as “Lysnarite” that there .man hasn’t had a fair deal? He’s had a magnificent opportunity, but had neither the tact nor the brains to utilise it. Personally I say the next chance should be given to Mr. Miller, a -man who has always shown liis ability to work amicably with lii.s fellows, evc-n if they don’t always agree with him, and who would make a first-class Mavor. —I am, etc. “MILLEEITE.”
