UNIVERSITY TOURNAMENT.
COMMENCED AT WELLINGTON

WELLINGTON,, April 11
The eighth annual tournament of the New Zealand University was commenced at Wellington yesterday. In the morning a civic reception was accorded to the visiting students by Mr. J. P. Luke, M.P. Teeming rain prevented the carrying out of the tennis championships which were to have been commenced. In the evening the debating contest was held and resulted in a win for Victoria. College (D. S. Smith and G. H. Gibb). This makes the fourth consecutive win for Victoria College. r Ph.e Otago University speakers (J. O. Robinson and W. H. Pet-till) were a little behind the winners.
