THE REPRESENTATIVE MATCH
Owing to the heavy rain no play was possible yesterday in the match between the Auckland team and the Poverty Bay representative eleven. The wicket was under water, and at 1.30 p.m., ?s it was still raining, it was decided to abandon all hope of play for tho day. The match will be commenced at 10 o’clock this morning, and will be continued to-morrow, as tho Aucklanders do not leave for home until Thursday, on account of the. boat from south being a day later than usual. Exceptional interest is being taken in the match, and it is anticipated there will ho a large attendance of spectators at Victoria Domain to-day and to-mor-row to witness the play. The Aucklanders aro sanguine of victory, but tho local men are equally confident that tlieir representative eleven will he strong enough, as in the case of the Eden team’s visit- last season, to send tho visitors back with a defeat in the “test”
The Poverty Bay team will meet on the ground at a quarter to ten, sharp, in order to elect a captain.
