POVERTY BAY ROWING CLUB

ANNUAL SOCIAL

The annual Easter social of the Rovetry Bay Rowing Club was held m the Garis.on Hall last night. There were about 120 couples present, and the floor, which had undergone a special preparation, was in capital order for dancing. Excellent music was provided by Mrs. Pritchard (piano) and Messrs Vita Bros.’ orchestra. The musicians were seated on a raised dais in the centre of the hall. The dais was tastefully draped with red, white, and blue bunting, and was surmounted by the handsome, flag of the club. Messrs Saywer, Harvey. J. V. Nicholas, and B. Lowe were the M.C.’s, and they with other members of the club were busily engaged throughout the evening in attending to the comfort and pleasure of those present. A very dainty supper was arranged by the ladies’ committtce, and the table was beautifully decorated with a profusion of flowers. It was the original intention of the committee that the trophies won during the s.eason should ho jn'eseuted to the winners, hut owing to some of the engraving not being completed, jt was found impossible to carry out this port of the programme. Dancing was kept up until an early hour this morning, and the social was an unqualified success; a fitting termination to a most successful season.
