SEND GREETINGS TO GERMANY
(Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, April 13. ; A Socialist conference last night adopted the following message to the Socialists of Germany: “We, the delegates of the New Zealand Socialists, in conference assembled at the time of trial and anxiety between Britain and Germany, send fraternal greetings to the workers of both countries, and pledge ■ourselves to do our utmost in the interest of international peace and unity.” A proposal to have the message cabled met with the objection that it would be a sign of hysterics, and it was discovered that the cost won hi be thirty shillings. “Why, that would give meals to sixty hungry people,” declared a delegate, and it was resolved to send the resolution by post. A letter of greeting from Mr Keir Hardie, ALP., was read amici applause, expressing a wish that the venture of placing a definite Socialist party in New Zealand would be a huge success. It was decided that the national executive, draw up a fighting, platform, for the pirty, to be adopted after referendum of the branches, and that all organisers a-id lecturers travelling from one branch, to another shall be endorsed by the-na-tional executive, and no branch shall have power to select or encourage any travelling lecturers unless suck lecturer shall first produce papers from tho national executive.
