THE NAPIER TRAWLING DIFFICULTY.
PROBABILITY OF A SETTLEMENT
[Per Press Association.] NAPIER, April 14. There is a probability of the difference of opinion between the employers and fishermen being settled by amicable arrangement and the whole trawling fleet being shortly again put into commission. A meeting of the Hawke s Bav Fishermen’s Union will be held tomorrow evening, when the whole-posi-tion will bo discussed. Some 2o men are affected by the trouble. Three or the largest trawlers, the Phantom, Countess, and Sir William Wallace, arc not affected, and catches from these boats .are being used to meet the demand. Care has also been taken to maintain the trade with Wellington and other towns at a distance.
